Compress Image to KB

Make a photo fit any KB limit.

How it works & FAQ
  1. Choose your photo.
  2. Pick the size your form asks for.
  3. Press Compress and download the JPG.

It keeps the highest quality that fits, and only shrinks the pixels if it must. 1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, so it passes every portal. Check your exam's notification for its exact limits.

Questions

Is it private?
Yes. Everything happens in your browser: your files and what you type never leave your device and are never stored on our servers. Some tools remember your last entries in this browser only, so they are there next time. We count anonymous visits, without cookies.
How do I compress a photo to under 20 KB for an exam form?
Choose the photo, pick 20 KB and press Compress. The tool finds the best quality that fits under 20 KB and gives you a JPG to upload. Check the exam notification for the exact size and pixel limits too.
Why did my photo get smaller in pixels?
When even the lowest JPEG quality is still too big, the only way under the limit is fewer pixels. The tool shrinks it just enough and tells you the new size. For a passport-style photo, 20 KB is usually plenty.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes here?
We count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and stay under it, so the file also passes portals that count 1,024. A "50 KB" result is at most 50,000 bytes.
Can I compress a PNG?
Yes. The result is a JPG, which most portals ask for. Transparent parts become white.
